Did anyone notice the guy smoking a cig on the start line of the C race?
Hat's off to the organizers for another well run event that had some good, challenging improvements over last year. The start was moved back to allow for a 40+ wide rider start. No need to worry about getting stuck in the back. If you were a sprinter, the hole shot was yours for the taking. And a nice pile-up in the first corner made things interesting. The run-up was as soft as last year. New section added after the run-up that included some fun s-curves that led to the dizzying pyramid. Strangely, I was able to recover slightly as we wove through this section. Double barriers were moved to the last slight uphill before the end. And the last barrier was changed at the beer tent. Last few years there was a shart turn right at the barrier but this year it was removed making it a much faster transition over the barrier. It helps if you lift your feet up over the barrier cause then you don't slam your big toe. It's a little tender!
Mental note for the run up next year - watch out for the rear wheel of the rider ahead of you as he goes to shoulder it. I think I had knobbies imprinted on my face! Hey Dave, that was me!!
And special thanks to Rock Bottom for the tasty selection of beers.!
